Frequently Asked Questions and Answers

What does “Novare” mean?
Derived from Latin, “Novare” means to innovate or make new. And that is exactly what we do for each and every client we serve. At Novare Capital Management we continually work to bring a unique and fresh perspective to the management of your wealth.

Why should I choose Novare Capital over another investment advisor?
Novare Capital offers a customized approach to investment management. Each client has a relationship manager who acts as the client’s personal CFO. We integrate cash flow planning, estate plan review and investment management. A few distinguishing characteristics are:

  • Fee Based Services. This allows us to provide independent and objective advice.
  • Customized Portfolio Management. Each portfolio is distinct in its design and addresses your individual goals and objectives. We do not believe in the “one size fits all” portfolio.
  • Client Satisfaction. This begins with a great understanding of your financial goals, needs and concerns. We strive for all of our clients to have a superior investment experience. You always have direct access to the firm’s principals at any time. Each principal is responsible for a limited number of relationships, and we have an experienced client service team available to handle all of your needs.
  • Integrated Cash Flow Planning and Multi-Generational Planning. We combine cash flow planning, estate plan review and investment management in order to create the portfolio that meets your goals and objectives.
  • Experience. Our principals have over 25 years of investment management experience.

What can I expect from the first meeting with Novare Capital?
During a first meeting we want to learn about you. Our financial advisors will listen carefully to understand your financial goals and objectives. We will then share with you our personal backgrounds, firm philosophy and investment process and how we believe we can help you achieve your goals. We ask potential clients to take their time to consider all their options to determine if Novare Capital Management is the right fit for them. Our intention is to have long term relationships with our clients.

What is Novare Capital’s investment approach?
Novare Capital’s primary objective is to preserve, protect and grow assets through a diversified approach to investment management. Each portfolio is distinct in its design and addresses your individual goals and objectives. We do not believe in a “one size fits all” portfolio.

We work to ensure that any investments we recommend are worthy of your capital. This is where our invaluable insight and comprehensive research come into play. Our portfolio managers always begin the investment selection process by asking these fundamental questions:

  • Is this a business we want to invest in and why?
  • How capable is the management team and will they treat us as partners or as a source of capital?
  • What is the correct valuation for the business?
  • Can we achieve an acceptable return on this investment?
  • What are the tax implications of this investment?

It is this attention to detail that ultimately helps grow and protect your wealth.

Will the Novare Capital team help me determine if I have enough money to retire?

Novare Capital combines cash flow planning with investment management in order to answer the important questions: Will I have enough assets to retire comfortably, educate my grandchildren, make a substantial gift to charity, buy the vacation home, etc.

We appreciate the fact that you have worked hard to accumulate wealth and would like to be comfortable that you will be able to maintain your lifestyle in retirement. Our Certified Financial Planners™ will create a cash flow plan analysis which shows you your current situation as well as projections for the future. This analysis is one of the tools used to determine the appropriate asset allocation for your portfolio.

How does Novare Capital consider estate and charitable planning in the investment process?
Our goal is to make sure you have a current estate plan and that it meets your various objectives. We discuss your estate and charitable planning objectives at the inception of our relationship during our estate plan review. We begin by confirming the ownership structure of your assets. Next, we explain how your assets pass in accordance with your estate planning documents or via beneficiary designation or operation of law. We may identify gaps in your plan and make recommendations to insure that your assets are owned in a manner that carries out your estate planning intentions. We coordinate with your estate planning lawyer to up date your documents and maximize the investment of time and money that you make in your documents. In addition, we regularly recommend the use of appreciated securities to satisfy your lifetime charitable desires. This is income tax efficient and helps to preserve your cash for other uses.

How is Novare Capital compensated?
Novare Capital is a fee-based investment advisory firm. We charge a 1% fee for the assets under management. We believe that this arrangement mutually aligns the interests of Novare Capital Management and our clients. We do not receive commissions or transaction fees, removing conflicts of interest that exist in some brokerage relationships. Cash Flow Planning and Estate Plan Review Services are integral to the Novare Capital investment management process and they are provided for no additional fees to our clients.
